Starting at tour's end ...'We need more time' they cried.. Yes Tassie has so much to offer!
A short flight to Hobart, then whisked away in our comfortable coach to another world, historic Richmond. Anthony our coach driver had so many interesting stories to relay about this town. The oldest bridge in Australia, built in 1820 by convicts is still in use today and is a photographers' delight. We marvelled at the architecture throughout the town. There are more than 50 Georgian buildings, many meticulously restored. After wandering about in Richmond and enjoying lunch and shopping we headed to Rosny Lookout for vast city views then an interesting city tour of Hobart.
After checking into our beautiful rooms in the stunning French Inspired Villa Howden there was time to explore the property, gaze at Northwest Bay, swim in the indoor pool and relax. Dinner enjoyed at the Villa together with much to discuss.
Saturday morning Salamanca Market was great fun then onto the ferry for 20 minutes heading to Bruny Island to soak up the natural beauty for the afternoon. Not to forget the happy stops visiting local producers of honey, cheese and chocolate. All the while enjoying Anthony's knowledgeable commentary. A standout location was the Truganini Lookout at The Neck overlooking Isthmus Bay on one side and Adventure Bay the other. A few sisters braved the climb and were richly rewarded. After an afternoon of being on the island we returned to Villa Howden. A little rest, drinks and laughs by the enormous fire place and then to Blackman's Bay for a fabulous dinner.
Sunday came too fast. Anthony showed us around some more of Hobart and we enjoyed coffee and cake up at Mount Nelson Signal Station with amazing views over the city and out to sea. Sunshine followed us each day and the Sisters were such a friendly, kind and caring group. So many life stories shared and it seemed we'd been in each others' lives a lot longer than 3 days.
That's female friendship for you!
