There's something uniquely special about traveling with a group of women. The bonds you form along the way, the shared laughter, and the memories created become more than just a trip. Recently, I embarked on such an adventure with seven incredible women, setting off from Melbourne to explore the breathtaking landscapes and rich histories of Ireland and Scotland.

We began our adventure in Dublin, where Ireland’s vibrant culture instantly captivated us. Our first day was filled with history, beginning with a visit to the iconic Trinity College  and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, a grand piece of architecture filled with history and awe. That evening, we got our first taste of traditional Irish hospitality with an unforgettable night at the Merry Ploughboys pub.

Ireland’s countryside is simply magical, with rolling green hills, rugged coastlines, and charming small towns. From Galway to Westport, Donegal to Kylemore, we explored it all. The dramatic Cliffs of Moher and Slieves left us speechless, offering stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding cliffside. As we continued our journey, we marvelled at castles and gardens and a farm, where we enjoyed a sheep farm tour and a scone-making session.

Ireland’s history, though marked with hardship and civil war, is filled with stories of strength and perseverance. We visited fascinating cemeteries, where we learned about the country’s past and its famous inhabitants. This immersion into Ireland’s cultural and historical fabric gave us a deeper understanding of the country’s carefree and joyful spirit

Next, we crossed into Scotland, where the landscape shifted, but the magic continued. The Isle of Skye welcomed us with its mystical charm and ever-changing weather. Scotland’s deep history was unearthed in places like Urquhart Castle, the Culloden Battlefield, and iconic castles like Stirling and Edinburgh Castle. We enjoyed a ride on the Jacobite steam train, famously known as the “Hogwarts Express, and enjoyed Whisky, Wool, and Highland Life.

The Trossachs National Park provided us with scenic drives, and Scone Palace was another favourite stop, offering a glimpse into Scotland’s royal history.

Our journey culminated in the grand city of Edinburgh, where we were fortunate enough to witness the spectacular Edinburgh Military Tattoo performance. Against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, the display of music and military precision was brilliant-

It was the perfect way to end our Scottish adventure.
