This morning, after breakfast we'll enjoy a half-day Zanzibar Stone Town tour where our guide will introduce us to the buildings of interest and famous viewpoints. Stone Town and its buildings are full of history and stories of the old times in Zanzibar, when Sultans, Arabs, Europeans and Zanzibaris wrote the history of this beautiful island.  We will visit the  Anglican Cathedral and the Slave markets, the Palace of the Sultans, Tip Tip’s House, the Old Arabic Fort, Forodhani Park and of course, the famous Zanzibar Doors which line the petite streets.  We will show you Henna Art and bring you to the fruit and vegetable market.  Afterwards an afternoon at leisure.

Wednesday 16 April 2025
Today, we'll visit Prison Island. Built in 1893, originally a prison then later a quarantine hospital, nowadays the island is home to the giant tortoise which has been banned from the city of Stone Town.  We'll enjoy a short boat ride with a view of the Stone Town Skyline to enjoy hearing about the history of the Island and see the tortoises. Returning to our accommodation with an afternoon at leisure.

A day at leisure. Enjoy the facilities of the Blue Bay Beach Resort and in the afternoon we'll enjoy a sunset Dhow cruise.

Friday 18 April 2025
This morning after breakfast, we'll enjoy a half-day Jozani Forest and Butterfly Centre tour.  The beautiful Zanzibar Butterfly Centre near Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park contains all native species to  Zanzibar.  Butterfly farming in  Zanzibar requires intact forests, thus providing an economic incentive to conserve habitats. Zanzibar women have the rare opportunity to participate, as farming can be carried out at home fitted around childcare and domestic duties. Feed the butterflies and watch them fly close at hand while enjoying the peace of nature. Afterwards, just a short drive we head to Jozani  National Park.  During a guided journey through the forest, we will quickly learn about the different species of monkeys unique to Zanzibar (and yes, without a thumb). After our forest tour and a short hop to the other side of the national park, there is an opportunity to uncover the magical world of the  Zanzibari Mangroves. A walk along the wooden trail and we will see the thousands of crabs at work under the mangroves and if we’re lucky we might even be able to hear the mangroves talking!

Today we farewell Zanzibar with a transfer to the airport for our flight back to Australia.
