Itinerary

Day 1 - Saturday 11 November 2017

Melbourne to Norfolk Island via Brisbane (D)

Welcome to Sisterhood Womens Travel.  An early start this morning as you meet your hostess and fellow travellers at the Melbourne Airport for your flght to Norfolk Island via Brisbane.  Sit back,relax and enjoy your flight.  Arriving into Norfolk Island early afternoon we'll be transferred to our accommodation - Castaway's, with time to settle in and explore before enjoying a 2 course dinner at the hotel restaurant tonight.  Welcome to Norfolk Island! 

Day 2 - Sunday 12 November 2017

Norfolk Island (B,MT,D)

This morning after breakfast,  amust for all visitors to Norfolk with a morning sightseeing tour.  We'll visit Historic Kingston, Cascade, Longridge and more.  We'll see & hear about the famous Convict Buildings, beautiful beaches & golf course, the renowned Melanesian Chapel, the Government laws & lifestyle. Enjoy views from scenic spots on this full commentary conducted tour. Rest for delicious morning tea in the garden of an historic island home built by Fletcher Quintal a descendant of “Bounty” mutineer Fletcher Christian & Matthew Quintal.  After our sightseeing tour a free afternoon to further explore the hotel surrounds and nearby shops.  Tonight we'll enjoy a 2 course dinner at Dino's Restaurant.

Day 3 - Monday 13 November 2017

Norfolk Island (B,D)

This morning we hit the road and visit Christian Brothers Cheese Company a boutique dairy and Cheese producer started by two island brothers Glen & John Christian.  Our tour will take us through a local farm with beautiful ocean views, we'll meet the cows, try the milking machine and see beehives and hear about producing the local honey.  A quick visit to the local sawmill is an added bonus.   Our tour travels to Glen’s house where we sample a range of cheeses with tasty condiments and beverages on the verandah with scenic ocean and valley views, where cheese maker John will give an informative talk.  An afternoon free for further exploration.  Why not pack your bathers and towel and head down to Emily Bay for a swim in the beautiful blue sheltered waters.  The shops will be open if you'd prefer to have a wander.  Dinner tonight at Hili's with a lovely 2 course meal.  After dinner we'll enjoy one of Norfolk Island's most popular night activities -           Wonderland By Night.  The setting is 10 acres of magical Norfolk pines & bushland lit up like an enchanted forest.  Meander along (or ride in the ‘moon buggy’) a gentle winding path with a descendant of the Bounty mutineers, as he recites his poems and lights up the dioramas.  Afterwards we'll enjoy a light supper.

Day 4 - Tuesday 14 November 2017

Norfolk Island (B,D)

This morning a unique clip clop down memory lane with Frodo, Geordie, Sailor, Glow & Ricki the big beautiful Clydesdale horses and their driver Culla, on the 2 hour Steeles Point Carousel Horse & Carriage Tour – afterwards enjoying a cuppa and clifftop.  Later this afternoon we'll enjoy the traditional Island Fish Fry. Enjoy a feast of Island dishes, salads, homemade bread and fresh fried fish, followed by Island desserts and tea / coffee. Watch the sunset from Puppy’s Point on Norfolk’s beautiful western coastline.  Tonight we'll experience another popular nightime activity in Norfolk Island - the Sound and Light Show - Nightfall at Kingston brings a different mood to the convict settlement. The stillness and the stars are just as they were before mankind arrived in 1788. However, with the dramatic use of real life sound together with theatrical lighting and costumed actors, the stillness is broken as Pinetree Tours takes you through the horrifying decades of Norfolk Island’s convict era.

Day 5 - Wednesday 14 November 2017

Norfolk Island (B,AT,D)

This morning a lovely way to see some of Norfolk Island's prettiest coast line.  Take your choice of an easy stroll through 100 acres reserve or for the more energetic, a leisurely 3.5km walk through scenic Mt Bates to Captain Cook Monument. At the end of both walks we meet on the cliff top for a delicious bbq breakfast. (People not wishing to do a walk, will be able to join the group for the scenic clifftop breakfast).  For the remainder of the morning we'll have the opportunity to visit Emily Bay for a swim or sunbake (weather permitting) and afterwards we'll enjoy an Island Culture Tour.  Experience the culture of the local forebears!  From Mutineer ancestors and their Tahitian wives came the arts of wood craft, weaving, cooking & our Norfolk language. On this tour we will see a woodturning demonstration using Norfolk timber and visit an Island home where we will learn about traditional cooking.  An Island weaving demonstration & a presentation on the Norfolk language will follow the afternoon tea break.  Tonight we'll enjoy a 3 course Progressive Dinner to Island Homes.  A fun night and a great way to meet the local people, and sample some of the island dishes.

Day 6 - Thursday 16 November 2017

Free Day (B,D)

Today is a free day for you to discover unexplored areas of Norfolk Island.  Hire cars can be arranged through Castaway's to visit other points of interest.  You might like to explore the small downtown area of Norfolk Island for some souvenir shopping or once again if the weather suits head down to Emily Bay for a day of swimming and sunbaking.  The choice is yours.  We'll regroup tonight back at our hotel for dinner before enjoying the Mutiny on the Bounty Show perfomed in an outdoor ampitheatre bringing to life the events that shaped the Island's history.

Day 7 - Friday 17 November 2017

Colleen McCullough's Home (B,D)

This morning after breakfast a real treat and a new addition to our touring schedule.  A tour of Colleen McCullough’s home.  Colleen McCullough, world renowned author of 24 books called Norfolk Island home for almost 36 years. Sadly, Colleen passed away in 2015 and her beloved property “Out Yenna” is now open for tours exclusively to Baunti Escapes.  We'll visit her magnificent home and Colleen’s priceless collection of artefacts gathered on her travels all over the world. We will see where her books were researched and where Norfolk Island pies were made from local eggs and fruit in season. This a glimpse into the life of a modern day literary icon. If you have read her amazing books, you will love the experience of sharing the world of Colleen McCullough, author of “Tim”, “The Thornbirds” and “Morgan’s Run”.   Our last afternoon free to take in any last minute sights before coming together for our Farewell Dinner at the Jolly Roger a fabulously local pub/restaurant popular with the locals.

Day 8 - Saturday 18 November 2017

Farewell Norfolk Island - Home (B)

After breakfast, with time to pack, we'll check out of our hotel and begin our journey home to Melbourne via Brisbane.  Sit back, relax and reminisce about great times shared with new friends.  A late arrival into Melbourne (approx 10.15pm).  Thank you for joining us for your latest adventure and we look forward to welcoming you back!
