Itinerary

Day 1 - Friday 5 September 2025

Melbourne - Hobart (D)

Welcome to Sisterhood Womens Travel. Meet your Sisterhood Tour Hostess at the Melbourne Airport for our short flight to Hobart, Tasmania.

Upon arrival, we’ll be met by our Driver/Guide and travel through the Coal Valley to the charming town of Richmond for lunch and a visit. This intact colonial-era town oozes photogenic history with the oldest bridge in Australia and more than 50 Georgian buildings. There are many galleries, cafes and buildings to with lunch at our own expense.

Afterwards, we travel across the Tasman Bridge to Hobart for a city sights tour, finishing in Battery Point, where we will check in to our luxurious accommodation, Grand Vue Hotel. This grand mansion was built in the style of a Queen Anne mansion in 1906 as a private residence. With nine superbly appointed guest rooms, inviting guest lounges, a well-provisioned larder, a dining room overlooking the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania and picturesque landscaped grounds, enjoy the entire property as our home away from home, for the next 2 nights.

Enjoy a welcome platter with a wine tasting, a walk in the gardens or a relax by the fire before a delicious French-inspired dinner prepared by a local Chef in the gorgeous dining room.

Afterwards, we will travel south to Kettering to board the ferry and cross the beautiful D’Entrecasteaux Channel to Bruny Island. Not only can Bruny Island boast some of Tasmania;s most superb scenery of sweeping beaches, mountains and spectacular capes and bays, but it also has a fascinating history. Notable early visitors include Captain Cook in 1777 and William Bligh in 1788 & 1792 in the ‘Bounty’ who planted the Tasmania's first apple tree.  We arrive at Roberts Point on North Bruny and tour south with a stop at "The Neck" for fabulous views from the lookout. Continue to scenic Adventure Bay and admire the pristine beach where we will stop for lunch at Pennicott Restaurant (own expense) which prides itself on offering the freshest local produce overlooking the bay.

After lunch we visit Bruny Island Chocolate, which offers a superb quality range of fudge, truffles and chocolate sauces. Next, Inala Nature and tour; the Jurassic Garden which has a collection of over 750 species of plants that have connections to the Gondwana Supercontinent (about 185 million years ago).

On return to the ferry, there is an optional stop at the Oyster and Honey Farm. We then travel back to Kettering and on to Hobart, via Mt Nelson Lookout, to take in the panoramic views of the city and Derwent Estuary.

After a full day's touring we will return to our hotel with time to freshen up before going out to a local restaurant for dinner (own expense).
