Itinerary
Day 1 - Sunday 7 January 2018
Melbourne - Meeniyan (D)
Today we'll depart from Melbourne and head along the South Gippsland Highway with a stop at Caldermeade Farm for morning tea. We'll then continue driving until we stop to enjoy lunch at Prom Country Cheese. We'll enjoy a ploughman's lunch including award winning local cheese, bread, crackers, local meats, olives and pesto. After lunch as we continue our journey we'll visit Fiona Kennedy's Art Studio. Fiona's work is gaining international and national attention with many of her work's being commissioned by private collectors worldwide. Each painting tells a symbolic story of life, love and inner happiness. Next we'll visit Kongwak Vintage Markets with it's indoor and undercover stalls selling a selection of vintage/retro and second hand home wares, clothing, albums, art, jewellery, local produce, plants, books, live music, great food and coffee plus a fun atmosphere. Continuing on we'll arrive into Meeniyan a picturesque country township and the turning point to Wilson’s Promontory and the Latrobe Valley. This quaint town was the location for the ABC production of 'Bed of Roses'! After check in to our hotel, with time to freshen up we'll enjoy an "al fresco" 2 course dinner at Trulli to end our night. Time for some beauty sleep in preparation for our Race Day Dress Up the following day!
Day 2 - Monday 8 January 2018
Stony Creek - Melbourne (B,L)
This morning we'll enjoy breakfast at Moos of Meeniyan hosted by the lovely Marty. Back to our hotel to glamour up, country racing style! Feel free to bring a fascinator and really enjoy the opportunity to 'frock up' for the day. Arriving at the Stony Race Course where we'll catch up with Sim Seri one of our fabulous hostesses to enjoy our day in the Pink Ladies Rose Marquee sponsored by Sisterhood Womens Travel where lunch and all drinks are included. Plenty of time for a flutter or two and even if you are not into horse racing do what I do go by how handsome the jockey is!! Today will be a fantastic day spent with friends. At the end of the races we'll start heading home arriving back into Melbourne CBD at around 7pm. What a fabulous mini break we enjoyed and we look forward to welcoming you back soon!
